A writer and DPhil candidate in the University of Oxford, the UK, researching remotely sensed methods to understand aeolian processes and morphology in the Middle East and the State of Kuwait. He is part of the Landscape Dynamics Research cluster and a member of Hertford College. Jasem has authored more than 50 books, journal and conference articles before he received his DPhil and his 30th, where he has ranking among the top 1% of researchers who began publishing in 2019 according to ResearchGate. He has also translated and supervised a number of books.

​Jasem wrote his 1st book (Introduction to Physical Geography) and his 2nd (Introduction to Geographic Information Systems) in his 22nd and 24th years, and they were approved by the Ministry of Education for distribution to public high school libraries in Kuwait. Both were also used for teaching in a number of Arab universities in Kuwait, Qatar, Syria, among other countries. Jasem is also a founder of the Natural Sciences Center Publishing House in Kuwait.

Previous to Oxford, Jasem holds a BA and MSc degrees in physical geography (subspecialty: public administration) and GIScience from Kuwait University with honors and teaching experience, where he was honored by Kuwait Prince at that time.. He also earned another MSc degree from the University of Trieste, in cooperation with the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS) and the Abdus Salam - International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Italy, focusing on satellite ocean’s sustainability, where he was the 1st in his class to graduate with almost full grade. Jasem has received ESRI Young Scholar Award at GIS Users conference in San Diego, and Kuwait Encouragement Award in his 26th year, among others, for his contributions to geography.

His previous experience includes working for Kuwait Environmental Public Authority (KEPA) for more than 5 years, collecting and analysing environmental data, and being a peer-reviewer for a number of Nature, Elsevier and Springer journals among others before he received his DPhil and his 25th. He is passionate about improving his knowledge in remote sensing and spatial modelling applications in different sub-fields of geography, where he completed related courses at Harvard University and NASA.
