A Kuwaiti author and DPhil candidate at the University of Oxford, UK, Jasem is a member of the Landscape Dynamics Research Cluster at Hertford College. His current research focuses on the use of remote sensing techniques to understand aeolian sediment processes and their impacts in the Middle East and the State of Kuwait. He has published more than 50 academic works prior to completing his DPhil and has been ranked among the top 1% of researchers who began publishing in 2019, according to ResearchGate statistics.

Jasem authored his first book (Introduction to Physical Geography) and his second (Introduction to Geographic Information Systems) during his early university years. Both books were approved by the Ministry of Education in Kuwait for distribution to public high school libraries and have been used for teaching in several universities across Kuwait, Qatar, Syria, and other countries. He has also supervised and translated a number of academic books and is a co-founder of the Natural Sciences Center Publishing House in Kuwait.

Prior to joining Oxford, Jasem obtained his BA and MSc degrees in Physical Geography (with a minor in Public Administration) and GIScience from Kuwait University with First Class Honors, where he also worked as a teaching assistant. He was honored by the Amir of the State of Kuwait as one of the top graduates. He later earned a second MSc degree from the University of Trieste, in collaboration with the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS) and the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Italy, focusing on ocean sustainability using satellite data, graduating top of his class with near-perfect distinction. He received the Esri Young Scholar Award at the GIS Users Conference in San Diego, the Kuwait State Encouragement Award at the age of 26, and the Oxford Social Sciences Postgraduate Poster Prize across 15 academic departments, among other recognitions for his contributions to geography.

His professional experience includes more than eight years of work at the Kuwait Environment Public Authority (KEPA), where he focused on environmental data collection and analysis. He has also served as a peer reviewer for a number of international journals published by Nature, Elsevier, and Springer before completing his DPhil and since the age of 25. He is committed to advancing his expertise in remote sensing and spatial modelling across different subfields of geography and has completed specialized training at Harvard University, NASA, and other leading institutions.
