A writer and DPhil candidate in the University of Oxford, the UK, researching machine and deep learning and remotely sensed methods to understand aeolian processes and morphology in the Middle East and the State of Kuwait. He is part of the Landscape Dynamics Research cluster and a member of Hertford College. Jasem has authored a number of books and journal articles, and has also translated and supervised other books. He is one of the foundars of Natural Sciences Center house publishing in Kuwait.

Previous to Oxford, Jasem holds a BA and MSc degrees in physical geography and GIScience from Kuwait University with teaching experience. He also earned another MSc degree from the University of Trieste, in cooperation with the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS) and the Abdus Salam - International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Italy, focusing on satellite ocean’s sustainability. All degrees with honors. Jasem has received ESRI Young Scholar Award at GIS Users conference in San Diego and Kuwait Encouragement Award, among others, for his contributions to geography.

His previous experience includes working for Kuwait Environmental Public Authority (KEPA) for more than 5 years, collecting and analysing environmental data, and being a peer-reviewer for a number of Nature, Elsevier and Springer journals among others. He is passionate about improving his knowledge in remote sensing and spatial modelling applications in different sub-fields of geography, where he completed related courses at Harvard University and NASA.

مؤلف وباحث كويتي مرشح للحصول على درجة الدكتوراه من جامعة أكسفورد، المملكة المتحدة، وهو جزء من مجموعة أبحاث ديناميكيات المناظر الطبيعية وعضو في كلية هيرتفورد. تشمل اهتماماته الحالية استخدام تعلم الآلة والتعلم العميق في وسائل الاستشعار عن بعد بهدف فهم الارسابات الريحية وتأثيراتها الجيوموروفولوجية في الشرق الأوسط ودولة الكويت، . قام جاسم بتأليف مجموعة من الكتب والأبحاث، كما قام بالاشراف على كتب أخرى وترجمتها. وهو أحد مؤسسي دار نشر مركز العلوم الطبيعية في الكويت.

قبل انضمامه إلى أكسفورد، حصل جاسم على درجتي البكالوريوس والماجستير في الجغرافيا الطبيعية وعلم المعلومات الجغرافية من جامعة الكويت، كما كان معاونًا علميًا. كما حصل أيضًا على درجة ماجستير ثانية من جامعة تريستي، بالتعاون مع المعهد الوطني لعلوم المحيطات والجيوفيزياء التطبيقية ومركز عبد السلام الدولي للفيزياء النظرية في إيطاليا، مع التركيز على استدامة المحيطات باستخدام بيانات الأقمار الصناعية، جميع الدرجات مع مرتبة الشرف. حصل جاسم على جائزة العالم الشاب من شركة إيزري العالمية في مؤتمر مستخدمي نظم المعلومات الجغرافية في سان دييغو وجائزة دولة الكويت التشجيعية، من بين جوائز أخرى، لمساهماته في علم الجغرافيا.

تشمل خبرته السابقة العمل في الهيئة العامة للبيئة في الكويت لأكثر من 5 سنوات، حيث كان يركز على جمع وتحليل البيانات البيئية وقد عمل كمحكم لعدد من المجلات الدولية التابعة لدور النشر العالمية مثل نيتشر، إلزفير، وشبرينغر، وهو شغوف لتحسين معرفته في تطبيقات الاستشعار عن بعد والنمذجة المكانية في مختلف المجالات الفرعية لعلم الجغرافيا، حيث أكمل دورات تدريبية ذات صلة في جامعة هارفارد ووكالة الفضاء الأمريكية ناسا، من بين مؤسسات مرموقة أخرى.
